Zorimar Johnson is recognized as the Kent County Quality Service Employee of the 1st Quarter for helping to fulfill Kent County's mission by providing our citizens outstanding quality service. The individual who nominated Mrs. Johnson had this to say:
"Zorimar went above and beyond the call of duty by helping a client in the lobby on the 3rd floor of the Kent County Courthouse. The client was asking where her son was scheduled to be in court and upon investigating the matter it was determined her son's case was not in the Circuit Court. The client was then instructed to check with the District Court regarding her son's court time. Zorimar was in the lobby talking to one of her clients in Spanish and apparently because of her Spanish speaking ability, the client felt comfortable enough to ask Zorimar for help. Zorimar brought the client back into the suite, used the Accesskent inmate look-up module and was able to see that the client's son was scheduled to be in court at the Kentwood District Court. Zorimar then looked up the number for the Kentwood court and instructed the client as to where to go. By going a little above and beyond her duties to help someone she did not even know and by taking a few extra minutes, Zorimar assisted this mother to get the correct information regarding her son's court time and location. Zorimar's actions also reminded me about the inmate look-up system available thru the Accesskent website, where I hope to use this more to try and better serve those clients who are in need."
Number of Years Employed by Kent County: 13 years 11 months…fabulous years.
The hardest thing I've ever done: Attend my paternal grandmother's funeral. She lived in Puerto Rico and when we moved to Michigan I did not see her as often. She raised me and I was very close to her when I lived in Puerto Rico.
Three people (living or dead) I'd invite to dinner: My immediate family members are the most important people in my life and I would invite them all. However, it only asked for three people and that would have to be my parents and my husband.
You'd be surprised to learn that: When I was in the 6th grade I won 2nd place in a national essay writing contest on "What bilingual education meant to me". I also played the flute in middle school and I was first chair. I also played in the Marching Band when I was in the 9th grade but I did not like the uniforms and quit. That was the end of my musical days.
The thing that I like most about working for Kent County is: The people I work with are great. Many of them have helped me through some very difficult moments. They know who they are.
Please join us in congratulating Zorimar for earning Kent County's Employee Recognition for Quality Service Award.

"Abraham Lincoln once said: 'With public trust we can do anything. Without it we can do nothing.' It is in that light that I view public service -- especially at the local level -- as the most honorable of callings."
