At Kent County, providing quality service to our customers is our number one priority. Our mission is to be an effective and efficient steward in delivering quality services for our diverse community. Our priority is to provide mandated services, which may be enhanced and supplemented by additional services to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens within the constraints of sound fiscal policy.
Joseph (Joe) S. Taylor, with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, is recognized as the Kent County Quality Service Employee of the 1st Quarter for helping to fulfill Kent County’s mission by providing quality service to citizens of Kent County.
The person who nominated Joe wrote, “While driving to work on March 2, 2016 my daughter lost control of her car on the snowy pavement and slid off the road. No injuries, no damage, she was just stuck in the deep snow. My daughter called me to ask if I could come dig her out. When I arrived approximately 20 minutes later, a good Samaritan and Deputy Taylor were already there assisting her. I brought two snow shovels with me and Deputy Taylor took one and proceeded to help me dig the car out and push it back onto the road. He was cheerful and friendly and for both daughter and father, helped alleviate much of the stress associated with an accident. In my opinion Deputy Taylor went out of his way to help my daughter. Whether or not he receives the formal Employee Recognition for Quality Service, I wanted to write and make sure he knew that I appreciated what he did and to thank him for his service.”
Number of Years Employed by Kent County: 15 years and 6 months.
The hardest thing I’ve ever done: Overcoming the challenges of being a parent who has a child that is disabled.
Three people (living or dead) I’d invite to dinner: My wife, my grandmother and an old friend named Joe Rizzoli who is no longer with us.
You’d be surprised to learn that: I was selected to receive this recognition.
The thing that I like most about working for Kent County is: The opportunity to know and work with the dedicated men and women at my department.
Please join us in congratulating Joe Taylor for earning Kent County’s Employee Recognition for Quality Service Award. If you know a Kent County employee who is deserving of this recognition, please complete a nomination form at www.accesskent.com/qualityservice or on the Kent County intranet.
"Abraham Lincoln once said: 'With public trust we can do anything. Without it we can do nothing.' It is in that light that I view public service -- especially at the local level -- as the most honorable of callings."
