At Kent County, providing quality service to our customers is our number one priority. Our mission is to be an effective and efficient steward in delivering quality services for our diverse community. Our priority is to provide mandated services, which may be enhanced and supplemented by additional services to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens within the constraints of sound fiscal policy.
Vickie Plowman, with the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office – Victim/Witness Division, is recognized as the Kent County Quality Service Employee of the 1st Quarter of 2017 for helping to fulfill Kent County’s mission by providing quality service to her colleagues in Kent County.
The person who nominated Vicki wrote,
““Vicki has worked for Victim Witness for 20 plus years and has assisted a multitude of victims in and through the criminal justice system. Her patience, calm demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond what is required in the job has been consistent throughout her career. You can often find her working after hours on her cases to make sure she doesn't leave a phone call unanswered or a person who may come in at 5:00 left without answers to their questions. One of her co-workers said, "Vicki treats everyone as if they are her friend or neighbor and is endlessly patient." Our office works victims in when they are at times at their worst. Vicki has the insight to meet that person where they most need help. A team player, she is willing to share the spotlight with everyone! Even with this nomination she will say it's the office and not her. She is a pleasure to work with and we are so pleased that she is a part of our department!””
Number of Years Employed by Kent County: 20 years and 4 months.
The hardest thing I’ve ever done: Helping to take care of my brother in the final stages of his life after being diagnosed with cancer - then his funeral and my parents’ funeral.
Three people (living or dead) I’d invite to dinner: My parents and my brother (all deceased) because I would give anything to have dinner with them again.
You’d be surprised to learn that: When my husband and I got married, he was in the Army stationed in Germany so we lived there for close to two years which was such a great experience. My daughter was born in the Army Hospital in Frankfort, Germany and my son was born in Grand Rapids. We now have five grandkids that keep us very busy and we are looking forward to retirement!
Please join us in congratulating Vickie for earning Kent County’s Employee Recognition for Quality Service Award. If you know a Kent County employee who is deserving of this recognition, please complete a nomination form at www.accesskent.com/qualityservice or on the Kent County intranet.
"Abraham Lincoln once said: 'With public trust we can do anything. Without it we can do nothing.' It is in that light that I view public service -- especially at the local level -- as the most honorable of callings."
