The Health Improvement Program (HIP) offers a variety of wellness services for adults in Kent County. The goal of HIP is to help people improve their health and well-being through wellness screenings and education.

Diabetes Prevention Course

Making healthy lifestyle changes can help prevent diabetes.  This course, created by the Michigan Department of Community Health and based on the National Diabetes Prevention Program, empowers students to set their own goals and make change happen.  Participants will learn how food choices and exercise can help reduce blood sugar and the risk of diabetes and its complications.  Host this class at your worksite or community organization for staff or clients.  Individuals with or without a pre-diabetes diagnosis will benefit.

Take Steps Toward Health

Take Steps Toward Health is a health messaging campaign developed by health professionals at the Kent County Health Department.  Join us in spreading the word about healthy living!  By signing on with Take Steps Toward Health, you’ll get health messages and tips emailed to you to display on bulletin boards, newsletters, or electronically, FREE!  The messages are designed to be used in community based organizations, health care facilities, schools, faith based organizations, parks, trails, and other community settings.  Your logo can even be added to show your support of healthy lifestyles.
